Check if a hospital is covered by your Discovery Health plan before admission. Find KeyCare, Delta, Smart, and Coastal network hospitals to avoid unexpected co-payments.
Discovery Health Medical Scheme uses multiple hospital networks to structure its 2026 plans. Understanding which network your plan uses is essential to avoiding unexpected costs when you need hospital care.
KeyCare Network is the most restrictive Discovery network, used by KeyCare Plus, KeyCare Core, and KeyCare Start plans. Members must use KeyCare network hospitals for all planned admissions. Using any other hospital means paying the entire bill yourself.
Delta Network is used by Classic Delta, Essential Delta, and Coastal Delta plans. It offers broader hospital access than KeyCare but still has restrictions. The out-of-network co-payment is R11,100 for 2026.
Smart Network is similar to Delta with comparable hospital access. Used by Classic Smart, Essential Smart, and Coastal Smart plans. The same R11,100 out-of-network penalty applies.
Coastal Network is a regional network focused on coastal provinces, used by Coastal Saver and Coastal Core plans. Out-of-network penalty is 20% of the hospital bill.
Executive and Comprehensive Plans have no hospital network restrictions — members can use any private hospital without co-payments.
All Discovery plans cover genuine medical emergencies at any hospital under Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs). Always confirm network status before planned admissions.
